How Do Decodable Books Fit in Learning to Read and Comprehend? What Science Says.
Decades of learning science have firmly established that children learn to read following the same general process and progression over several years of instruction. Using decodable books is essential, allowing young readers to apply their growing understanding of phonics in connected text. This session will describe decodable and leveled texts and their different purposes and provide guidelines for using them in teaching students to read.
