What's the "PHuss" about Phonemic Awareness and What Do We Need to Know?
Early Childhood Phonemic awareness is a vital foundation in learning to read and write. Developmental research across several decades has determined a developmental skill progression beginning before birth. With advances in neuroimaging, science has established a deeper understanding of these critical phonological and phonemic foundations. This session describes:
-The facts of phonological and phonemic awareness skills within the scope of phonological processing along with the interconnected nature of phonological representation and
-Phonological sensitivity phonological and phonemic awareness skill development and age expectations
-A Phew Phun strategies to help students develop these essential skills.
